Enough is enough.
Our city has seen rapid growth and change. But even as once again we are the crane capital of America, residents in District 6 and in Seattle at large are not enjoying the rewards of growth. Instead, our city is bursting at its seams at great human and financial cost. Homelessness is rising exponentially. Our built and natural environments are at risk, and traffic congestion is keeping residents from their work and families. The rapidly increasing cost of housing is pushing people out of their homes, with a disproportionate impact on people of color, people on fixed incomes, seniors, and middle and low-income earners. The Opioid and Fentanyl epidemic is tearing apart our community. Worst of all, our elected officials are unwilling to tackle our city’s challenges. They are busy courting big donors and large developers, without minding the taxpayer’s pocketbook. It is time for a change.
We need a new approach, one that considers both the disproportionate impact of Seattle’s growth and the taxpayer’s bottom line. We must invest now in the solutions that will curb Seattle’s housing, traffic, and environmental crises.
As a resident of Ballard for over 25 years, and former small business owner, I’ve been deeply involved in our community. I previously served as a Director of Salmon Bay’s K-8 Parent Teacher Organization (FOSB), coach and Board Member of Ballard Little league, and am currently President of Seattle Fair Growth, a neighborhood advocacy group whose mission is to maintain Seattle’s livability while accommodating its rapid growth.
Why switch horses in mid stream?
The incumbent has done an excellent job setting the foundational pieces necessary to improve conditions in D6. From cleaning out the Ballard Commons to instituting sidewalk café’s during the Covid crisis. I think all of us can appreciate that. What’s needed now is someone with a different skillset to take it to the next level. Someone with strong management, negotiating, team building and leadership skills, and a proven track record of success outside the public sector. I believe I am that person.
I’m running for Seattle City Council to empower our neighborhoods and tackle the many issues facing Seattle today. I am here for you and you can contact me directly anytime at friends@jonlisbin.com

"In short, he’s the only candidate who seems to be grounded in reality in D6."
